Stuck Sketches August 1

This months sketch is so perfect for me. I knew straight away which pictures I wanted to use. I don't tend to scrap many Christmas photos mainly because there is only the four of us and we have a very simple relaxed Christmas. However, every year for the last 6 years or so we make two small gingerbread houses and the kids love to decorate them and pretty much demolish them as soon as the icing dries. My tradition is to have the kids hold up their gingerbread house standing in front of the Christmas tree.
The papers I have used here are one of my favourite Christmas papers and I have no idea what brand they might be but they would have to be about two to three years old. I'm so pleased to have scrapped these photos and I will add them to my Christmas album.

Here's the original sketch

Scrap the Boys JULY

Hey there, although the theme is ocean I have gone with an ocean in winter photo. OK you can't see the ocean but we are there. We live in the northern suburbs of Perth, very close to Hillarys Boat Harbour. We used to like walking the dog (he's too old to go travel in the car now, but that's another story) there along the groin. Ben would always walk along the top of the groin while the dog and I stuck to the footpath. I love this photo of my son with the beautiful blue sky for a background. I have gone for a  nautical theme rather than really beachy because it's a photo taken in winter. I used some really old "wave" pp from Echo Park and nautical PL cards from Becky Higgins. Thanks for stopping by.

Stuck Sketches July 1st

Sometimes my son and I like to pop out of the house, on the weekend, for a spot of morning or afternoon tea. Sometimes we like to go to Krispy Kreme.

I have been waiting for an excuse to use my new Amy Tangerine ephemera (from the Better Together collection) and this was the perfect set of photos.

Instead of spotty patterned paper I went with a spotty doughnut under the main photo. I love the look of that Amy Tan patterned paper, it already reminded me of sprinkles. So what goes well with doughnuts, coffee of course (for me, not my son) and that Shimelle background pp of take away coffee cups felt like a perfect combo with the bright doughnut.

I love it when a plan comes together.

cheers

Stuck Sketches June 15

Yay, I managed to get this layout done in plenty of time before the challenge ended. I couldn't find any recent photos that I wanted to use so instead I did some time travel. I came across these adorable pics of my son and our dog from 2013. Ben and Cooper have a very close bond and it really shows here in these photos.
I've used an older Basic Grey paper pad for the patterned paper which is called Hey Boy. I got it on sale ages ago and have only really started using it recently. I really love the colour pallet in this range and it goes with so many things in my stash.

Stuck Sketches June 1

I love my daughters hair! She gets it from me. Unfortunately for me, mine was never so thick and luxurious, just curly. I could never grow my hair out this long either. Oh well, I will live vicariously through her. I was walking behind my daughter one afternoon when I begged her to let me take a photo. Being a teen she wasn't too keen on the idea but let me have it because it was the back of her head after all. LOL.

I'm loving these papers from Kaisercraft. They're from last year so I guess they're now classified as vintage. The yellow spot acetate is actually a Project Life divider with the holes trimmed off and the label repurposed to go alongside the photo. I got a little risqué with some texture paste on the edges of my white cardstock. So grungy, NOT. I just wanted to add some texture.

Stuck? Sketches May 15

A bit late but loved this sketch and wanted to use some of my new Amy Tangerine, Better Together collection.
I love this picture of my daughter with her beautiful curls tied up in a massive bun. The paper I chose to feature in the circle shape looked a lot like pencil drawings which I thought matched in well with the pencils in the hair. A fun photo/layout.
Thanks for looking.
Cheers.

Scrap the Boys March Challenge

This is the mood board for this months challenge at Scrap the Boys.

To be truthful I think I may have missed the mark a little with an exact match on colours but I have still used orange and blue on my page. The papers I have used are from a Basic Grey paper pad called Hey Boy that came out a little while back. As for the chipboard alphas they are also Basic Grey and are dated 2009. I found them in my last tidy up and new they would be perfect with this colour theme.

The page was mainly going to be about the annoying phrase my son has been using a lot lately (seems legit) and is one of many that he has picked up from watching You Tube videos. But then it occurred to me that it really did fit well with this very recent photo I took of him on his birthday.

I'm not a mixed media kind of girl but I do like the look so I thought that the busy papers and spotty alphas gave the page the mixed media look without all the mess of paints, modelling paste etc.

Thanks for looking.

Stuck Sketches Feb 15

I took this photo just last month and only then really noticed how much my boy is growing. Such a lovely moment of father and son captured moments before they took off on a boys weekend. Love it.

Jan 15 Stuck Sketches

Love this sketch, thanks Stuck!
When I first saw this multi photo sketch I had to rack my brains a bit to come up with enough related photos that I wanted to use. I then remembered all the selfies I took while on holiday last year.

The other reason I wanted to use these photos was because of the beautiful Project Life style cards and die cuts I recently bought at the Reject Shop. I knew this range would be perfect to fill the little spaces between my photos. I'm also thrilled I got to use some of the new gold dipped Thickers for my title. Looks great alongside the other gold foiled die cuts.
As for the text I was going to leave it out as I felt the page had good white space but then common sense prevailed and I added info about where each photo was taken. Whoops still have to add the numbers to my photos.

Anyway that another challenge entered, some new purchases used and another layout added to my holiday album. It's a win, win, win.

Thanks for taking a look.

Stuck Sketches Jan 2016

First cab off the rank for the new year sketch challenges. I "found" this photo in one of my albums late last year. It had been scrapped (by me) some time ago and although I love the photo I wasn't thrilled with how I had scrapped it. So I kept the photo and chucked out the rest.

When I checked out the recent sketch as Stuck? I thought I would give this picture a new lease on life, so to speak. I tried to work with the colours and found that the Amy Tan Finders Keepers papers had a lot of similar colours to my photo so that was my base. I loved searching through my stash and finding co-ordinating embellishments to update this layout. So happy with how it has turned out and that the photo is back on display.
